If you're looking to expand your Bambu Lab P2S 3D printing setup with AMS 2 Pro, you’ve come to the right place. After successfully setting up two sets of AMS 2 Pro with my P2S, I’m sharing a step-by-step breakdown of the connection process, drying parameter configurations, and practical tips to optimize your workflow—all based on real-world testing and hands-on experience.

One of the biggest upgrades of AMS 2 Pro over the older P1S setup is how it connects to the P2S:
I added a riser to my AMS 2 Pro units to create storage space underneath, where I keep a bin for organizing filaments and cleaning supplies. This layout fits two AMS 2 Pro units perfectly; adding a third would be tight (though there’s minor space in the rear of the setup for future adjustments). I’ll share more about scaling to three AMS units once I test it!
After connecting AMS 2 Pro to P2S, the system automatically updates its firmware—once complete, you’ll see a “Heating” option in the interface (the core of the filament drying feature). Here’s what you need to know to avoid overheating or under-drying:
AMS 2 Pro rotates the filament spool continuously during drying—this is Bambu Lab’s clever solution to prevent localized overheating and spool deformation. For this reason, Bambu Lab explicitly recommends against printing while drying: the rotating spool can interfere with print stability, so plan your workflow accordingly.
Monitor the humidity gauge during drying—you’ll see humidity drop visibly (in my tests, it fell from 60%+ to 45% in just a few hours). Patience pays off: slow, consistent drying ensures filament is moisture-free, which directly improves print quality (no more layer adhesion issues or popping sounds!).
