In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to install the external fan kit and P2S filter on your Bambu Lab P2S 3D printer. This upgrade greatly improves ventilation, reduces fumes, filters harmful vapors, and helps prevent warping—especially when printing ABS and PETG.

Tools & Parts You’ll Need

  • External fan kit (from Bambu Lab or Call3D)
  • Custom P2S Filter with HEPA, activated carbon, and molecular sieve
  • Small hex wrench (included with P2S)
  • Screws provided in the kit
  • Printed fan cover & mounting parts

Step 1: Prepare the Fan Cover

First, take the printed cover where the fan will be installed.

  • The backside is lined with black EVA foam.
  • Make sure to place this foam side facing down during installation for a tight, sealed fit.
  • The fan mounts directly onto this cover, so keep the position clear.

Step 2: Install the Fan & Route the Wiring

Take the fan out of the official Bambu Lab external fan kit box.

  • The fan comes with a ring of foam around it, which acts as cushioning. Double-check that this is in place.
  • You’ll see a small notch on the bracket—this opening is for routing the wiring.
  • Thread the fan cable through the notch first to avoid pinching or tangling later.
  • Pull the cable fully through the opening.

When placing the fan:

  • The mark on the fan must face upward, following the exhaust direction.
  • Press the fan gently until it sits flush with the cover. It’s okay if it’s slightly recessed—just press it down to level it evenly.

Step 3: Install the PCB Board

Next, we install the PCB board assembly.

  • Before mounting the board, connect the matching port first.
  • The connectors are keyed and only fit one way, so you can’t plug them in incorrectly. No need to worry about mistakes here.
  • After connecting the cables, tidy up the wiring and tuck it neatly under the board.

Step 4: Secure Everything with Screws

Now we use the small screws from the screw bag.

  • Take out the three small screws and keep them safe—don’t lose them.
  • Use the small hex wrench from your P2S toolbox; it fits these screws perfectly.
  • Align each screw with the mounting holes and tighten carefully.
  • For speed, you can also use an electric screwdriver, especially when installing multiple screws.

Once done, the PCB and fan positioning is complete.

Step 5: Install the PCB Protective Cover

The bottom shell protective cover usually comes pre-installed to prevent loss during shipping.

  • Use the longer hex driver from the P2S toolbox to remove and reattach the cover.
  • Secure it firmly with the provided screws.
  • Again, feel free to use an electric screwdriver to save time.

Step 6: Mount the External Exhaust Port

Now attach the external exhaust port.

  • This part uses thick buffer foam and fits tightly, so it won’t fall off easily.
  • It’s designed to snap securely into place with precise sizing.
  • If you’re printing parts yourself, you’ll need M3 screws. Full specs are available in the Call3D shop and documentation.
  • Secure the exhaust port with four screws, then snap the assembly into position.

Magnet Mounting Note

The system uses six strong magnets to hold firmly against the chassis back:

  • Three magnets on each side provide strong, stable holding force.
  • The assembly attaches tightly to the back panel and won’t shift or fall during printing.

Step 7: Final Wiring & Connection to AMS

Wiring the system is straightforward:

  • The two main connectors are interchangeable—plug either one into the port.
  • Connect the module to one of the two ports on your AMS.
  • Once connected, you can control the fan directly from the P2S screen.

Step 8: Install Your P2S Filter (Upgraded Version)

What Makes This P2S Filter Better Than the Original?

  • Includes HEPA filtration + activated carbon + molecular sieve
  • Effectively filters toxic fumes and VOCs released during printing
  • Absorbs moisture that can build up in the filament and chamber
  • Greatly reduces strong smells, especially when printing ABS

How to Install the P2S Filter

  • Check the filter orientation carefully.
  • The white side must face outward.
  • This outward layer contains activated carbon and molecular sieve for deep filtration.
  • Insert the filter into the exhaust assembly and press it firmly into place.

Step 9: Final Check & Completion

Once the fan, PCB, exhaust port, and P2S filter are all installed:

  • Double-check all wiring is tidy and not tangled with hotbed cables.
  • Make sure every part is secured and seated properly.
  • Test fan function through the P2S touchscreen.

Your entire exhaust fan kit and P2S filter setup is now complete!

Why Upgrade to the Call3D P2S Filter?

  • Stronger filtration than stock filters
  • Removes toxic vapors, not just dust
  • Helps maintain chamber environment for less warping
  • Affordable, available in a convenient two-pack
  • Greatly improves printing experience with ABS, ASA, and PETG
