Filament Vacuum Bag Kit Overview

Product Description

For moisture-sensitive filaments such as TPU, PETG, and PA, a filament vacuum bag provides more controlled storage between prints. It removes much of the humid air around a partially used spool, allowing added desiccant to focus on residual moisture rather than the full volume of air trapped inside a storage box. This helps preserve already-dry filament and reduce unnecessary drying cycles. Start with the Full Starter Kit, including one electric sealer and 20 bags. If you have more spools or larger storage needs, add the 60-bag Replacement Pack to expand the same setup.

Reduce Moisture Exposure between Prints

Most filament spools are not used up in a single print, so the remaining material needs reliable storage between jobs. Leaving an opened spool exposed to ambient air can allow it to absorb moisture, while repeatedly drying the same filament adds extra time and may affect the material or spool if the temperature, duration, or number of cycles is unsuitable. Vacuum sealing with desiccant helps keep dry filament protected between uses and can reduce the need for repeated drying. It is intended for storage and does not replace proper drying when filament is already wet.

- More efficient than hand-pump zip vacuum bags: the electric vacuum sealer removes air without repeated manual pumping, helping create a faster and more consistent storage workflow.
- Thicker bags help reduce air leakage: compared with thin zip-style vacuum bags, the reinforced bags are better suited to maintaining a vacuum during longer storage. Actual retention depends on correct sealing and bag or valve condition.
- Removes humid room air before storage: an airtight box still traps the moisture already present in the enclosed air. Desiccant must first absorb that moisture, and humidity can rise again after the desiccant becomes saturated.
- Less desiccant maintenance for long-term storage: storage boxes often rely on color-changing silica gel or a molecular sieve plus hygrometer, requiring monitoring, removal, and regeneration or replacement. Minimizing the remaining air inside a vacuum bag reduces the initial moisture load on the desiccant.
- Better suited to moisture-sensitive filament: repeatedly opened boxes or saturated desiccant may struggle to maintain below 20% RH for extended periods, which may be unsuitable for long-term TPU storage. Performance still depends on the seal, desiccant condition, access frequency, and environment.
