BX-303 Grease - Lead Screw & Pulley Maintenance Overview
Why choose a BX-303 lubricant grease for 3D printer maintenance?
Lead screws work under frequent back-and-forth motion. Over time, dry threads or the wrong lubricant can increase squeaks, vibration, or “sticky” motion. A maintenance-size tube is convenient for regular cleaning + re-lubing, especially if you run multiple printers or operate in a dusty environment. Follow official guidance on where to use grease vs. oil, and always remove excess.
Key Features & Requirements
- Designed for lead screws; can also help with belt-to-idle-pulley noise when used correctly.
- Working temperature : -30°C to 120°C (-22°F to 248°F).
- Safety/compliance: NSF H1, RoHS, REACH; compatible with metal / plastic / rubber.
- Maintenance guidance: apply a thin, even layer on clean threads and wipe away excess to reduce dust attraction.
- For X1/P1, do not apply oil/grease to X-axis carbon rods.
Product Description
BX-303 is a maintenance grease for lead screws. Use it after cleaning the threads, then apply a thin, even layer and wipe off any excess to reduce dust build-up. Proper lubrication can help keep Z-axis movement smoother and may reduce abnormal noises over time. It can also be used to help reduce belt-to-idle-pulley rubbing noise when applied correctly. For other parts, follow the printer maker’s guidance (typically oil for rails/shafts), and avoid applying oil or grease to X-axis carbon rods on X1/P1 series.

Better Than Running Lead Screws Dry
Under frequent motion and micro-load friction, dry threads (or grease that migrates / volatilizes too quickly) can increase noise and stick-slip over time. A high-adhesion grease film can help lower friction and reduce abnormal sounds when applied correctly. Always wipe away excess to avoid attracting dust and creating build-up that could contaminate prints.

FAQs about 3D Printer Grease for Lead Screws & Pulleys (30g, BX-303)
Can I use lithium-based grease on a 3D printer lead screw long-term?
Some general-purpose greases can work short-term, but may soften, migrate, or collect dust in warm or dirty environments—leading to noise, mess, and more frequent cleaning. For maintenance, it’s usually better to use a grease intended for lead screws/ballscrews and reapply on a schedule (often 3–6 months, or more frequently in dusty/high-duty use). Clean old grease before reapplying and avoid mixing different grease types.
Where should I use lubricant grease vs. lubricant oil (and what to avoid)?
Per Bambu’s official maintenance wiki, lubricant grease is used for lead screws and to help reduce noise between belts and idle pulleys. Lubricating oil is typically used on linear guides, slide rails, and steel shafts. For X1 Series and P1 Series, Bambu’s official note says oil and grease must not be applied to the X-axis carbon rods. Always wipe away excess after application.

Found this shop on Reddit, chatted with a real person about the P2S filter I needed. Asked if they could ship to SG, they checked and made it happen! Super happy because this filter is basically impossible to find locally and always out of stock everywhere else. Fast, friendly, and solved my problem perfectly. Will buy again!

Bought a ventilation system but changed my mind last minute. I thought returns would be a huge hassle, but they told me there’s a return warehouse in Houston only about a 10-minute drive from where I live in Missouri City. Drove over and returned it super easily. Super convenient return process, great experience overall!

Before buying, I asked around and someone explained the rods are carbon, so you’ll eventually see carbon dust. The upside is they’re self-lubricating. I’m really glad I checked first—so I didn’t add grease to the carbon rod. Bambu’s own guidance is a bit confusing (sometimes they say grease, sometimes oil), and even support didn’t seem sure, so clarifying beforehand saved me from doing the wrong thing.
This grease has been genuinely solid for my Bambu maintenance. Some other brands I tried would start to break down over time and turn into a runny, liquid oil. After using this one for a while, I haven’t seen that happen—it stays consistent and does the job.
I got this for my old Creality CR-6 SE 3D printer. I haven't added grease to the Z(ed) height linear rods since I got it from when it was on kickstarter and when I saw this available to test from Amazon vine I jumped on it. As soon as I received this I put some on the rods and noticed less noise right away. There wasn't a lot of noise, but it did make what was there go away. It's also peace mind that you won't have complete metal on metal parts. That's never a good thing! A little goes a long way too, so you get enough to add more down the road when it needs some.
This is great 3D printer grease! You don’t need to use too much so it’s a great value for your money! A little bit goes a long way! It washes off your skin easily with soap and there was no irritation. It does what it’s supposed to do and works great!
This BX grease is fantastic for lead screws, keeping everything moving silently without acting like a magnet for dust and debris. It stays remarkably clean compared to other lubricants, making it the perfect low-maintenance choice for my 3D printer. Not too thick or too runny. Good price for its performance.
