Filament Track Switch
Why Upgrade to a Filament Track Switch?
Dual-nozzle printing can significantly reduce flushing compared with single-nozzle multi-color printing, but it often adds setup overhead. Traditionally, users had to manually move spools between AMS units to ensure the correct filament reached the correct nozzle. A filament track switch automates that routing, letting the slicer decide which nozzle gets which filament without you re-plugging or re-grouping spools. This can make dual-nozzle multi-color workflows faster to set up and easier to manage.
Features & Requirements
- Slicer-assigned routing: sends selected filament to the correct nozzle automatically.
- Dynamic Mapping workflows: supports layer-by-layer reassignment to help reduce purge waste (scenario-dependent).
- Dual-nozzle focus: designed for multi-material / multi-color routing without manual spool regrouping.
Product Description
The Bambu Filament Track Switch is a smart filament routing accessory designed to automate filament-to-nozzle assignment for compatible dual-nozzle platforms. It enables slicer-assigned routing, so any AMS filament can be sent to the nozzle selected by the slicer, reducing the need to manually regroup spools between AMS units. When paired with supported slicer features, it can also enable Dynamic Mapping to help reduce purge waste in multi-color prints (setup- and model-dependent). Current official compatibility is X2D; H2D/H2C support is expected within Q2 2026 per the manufacturer notice. Time/material savings vary by model geometry, color distribution by layer, purge settings, and filament behavior.
Product Specification

Better Than Traditional AMS Splitter-Only Routing
Traditional AMS splitter-style routing can lock specific filaments to a single nozzle, which can reduce efficiency when the model’s color distribution changes from layer to layer. The Filament Track Switch unlocks Dynamic Mapping, allowing the slicer to intelligently reassign filaments between nozzles layer-by-layer. By adapting to the model’s specific color layout, it can help minimize purge waste and maximize time savings compared with static “one filament → one nozzle” setups. Results vary by model geometry, purge settings, and material behavior.

FAQs about Bambu Filament Track Switch — Smart Filament Routing for X2D/H2D Dual-Nozzle Printing
Can I use it on H2D or H2C?
At the moment, the Filament Track Switch is officially compatible with X2D. Support for H2D and H2C is expected within Q2 2026 (per the manufacturer notice).
Why is your price slightly higher than the official store?
We ship these units to US and global by air to keep them in stock and to support fast delivery (typically about 1 week, destination-dependent). That logistics approach can increase our cost compared with domestic fulfillment. However, orders over $45 ship free, so you do not need to pay extra shipping for this item in most carts. In many cases, the final out-of-pocket total ends up close to the official store, while improving availability and delivery speed.

Found this shop on Reddit, chatted with a real person about the P2S filter I needed. Asked if they could ship to SG, they checked and made it happen! Super happy because this filter is basically impossible to find locally and always out of stock everywhere else. Fast, friendly, and solved my problem perfectly. Will buy again!

Bought a ventilation system but changed my mind last minute. I thought returns would be a huge hassle, but they told me there’s a return warehouse in Houston only about a 10-minute drive from where I live in Missouri City. Drove over and returned it super easily. Super convenient return process, great experience overall!

If you’re running two AMS units, this makes chaining them together incredibly convenient. Being able to manage up to 8 colors is a huge quality-of-life upgrade.
Mounting the filament track switch higher up works well for my setup where the AMS sits above the printer. In my tests the overall resistance did not change much. The biggest drag actually comes from the track switch itself. The structure grips too tightly, so when the filament comes out of the Y-split it gets forced back into a parallel path, which adds friction.
I run an AMS 2 Pro plus an AMS HT loaded with dedicated support material. Installation took a bit of time, but following the wiki step by step made it go smoothly. After setup, I was able to print the printer’s built-in Panda test model using one AMS and two nozzles on the first try. The print took longer, but there was basically no purge waste, and the difference in print quality between the two nozzles was not very noticeable. Overall this makes multi-material printing much more convenient.
My X2D and the filament track switch have arrived, but I am still not sure what the rear brackets behind the AMS are meant to do. Are they mainly there to reduce Bowden tube friction and smooth out the filament path? If there’s a recommended way to position them, I’d appreciate any guidance.
