Calibration made a real difference

After running the calibration, the improvement was definitely noticeable. I used to have some issues with holes and fitted parts not lining up perfectly, but that has been much better since installing the vision encoder. It is a useful upgrade if you care about better XY accuracy and more consistent fit.

Finally got one—when I first tried to buy it, it was always sold out and the price was pretty high. Now it’s easy to get and the price has dropped a lot.

After it arrived, I calibrated/aligned everything right away, but honestly I didn’t notice much change. Maybe it’s one of those upgrades that’s hard to “feel” unless you measure over time, or maybe it’s just placebo.

Thanks for sharing an honest first impression. This upgrade can be subtle right after calibration—its value usually shows up over time as belts wear and tension changes. If you can, try comparing a few repeat prints weeks later to see if consistency holds up better.

It’s not as “magic” as some people expect, and it won’t directly improve print accuracy. What it does do is compensate for errors caused by belt wear and changes in belt tension over time.

Because of that, it helps keep accuracy more consistent throughout the belt’s lifespan, which is genuinely useful in day-to-day printing. Owning one is also much more convenient than renting whenever you need it.

Appreciate the realistic, technical take—this is exactly the right expectation to set. Keeping consistent accuracy as belts age is where it really shines, and owning one is definitely more convenient than renting.
